Drum Lessons

James has been working in the industry as a freelance drummer and teacher for over 15 years now. After completing his BA Music and a Masters degree in Music Composition at the University of Southampton, James’ launched himself head first into his musical career and hasn’t looked back.

People of all ages and abilities are welcome, from the complete beginner to advanced and seasoned players. 

Having fun whilst drumming is a key aspect of learning and playing! Students are encouraged to bring along material, pieces, tunes or grade books that they’re interested in or actively engaged in learning!

Lessons cover anything from:

  • Any style of music – Rock/Pop/Funk/Latin/Jazz/Hip-hop/Samba/Afro-cuban and more
  • Groove & feel
  • Drum kit independence
  • Musicianship
  • Sight reading & notation
  • Music theory
  • Trinity/Guildhall/Rockschool drum kit grades 1-8

  • £45 – 1 hour lesson
  • £35 – 45 minute lesson
  • £25 – 30 minute lesson
Online/Skype lessons

James also offers the ability to have a lesson over Skype! Same fees apply.
